Monument to victims of political repression in the form of two bronze sphinxes on granite pedestals is installed on the Voskresenskaya embankment, opposite the infamous prison "Crosses".

Sphynxes of Mikhail Shemyakin have two faces. Profiles of young women's faces are turned to the houses, to the Neva and prison "Crosses" on the opposite shore - bare skulls. There is a stylized window of the prison cell with a lattice on the parapet of the embankment. There are copper plates on the pedestals that are engraved with the lines from the works of N. Gumilev, O. Mandelstam, A. Akhmatova, I. Brodsky, A. Solzhenitsyn, N. Zabolotsky, V. Vysotsky, V. Shalamov and other Russian writers and poets who were affected by the repression in the USSR.
