Monument
The monument to Peter the Great, the founder of St. Petersburg and Kronstadt, was created and erected in Kronstadt’s Petrovsky Park in 1841 by sculptors Théodore Jacques and Peter Clodt.
The sculpture depicts Peter I in bronze, standing on a pedestal of polished pink granite, and surrounded with a fence composed of cannon barrels linked with chains.
The 4.55-meter-high sculpture on the 4-meter pedestal was ceremonially unveiled on June 27, 1841 to mark a jubilee of the battle of Poltava.
