Famous building
Believed to have been built in the late 16th century or in the early 17th century, St. Hyacinth’s Church is anyway one of Vyborg’s oldest Gothic buildings.
In the 18th century, Catherine the Great granted the building to the local noble assembly. In 1801, it was converted into St. Hyacinth Chapel, remaining property of the local Roman Catholic community until the Soviet-Finnish wars (1939-44).
Newly renovated by 2016, the building has become part of the Vyborg Museum, displaying, in particular, the Knight’s Hall and Torture Chamber exhibitions.
