Held to mark Yuri Nashivochnikov’s centenary, the exhibition covers the entire range of his works from academic paintings created back in the 1930s to later programmatic landscapes and still lifes reflecting Nature’s spiritual experience as seen by the master.

Once a pupil of the two promine artists, sculptor Osip Sidlin and painter Alexander Matveev, Nashivochmikov was able to develop his own artistic concept of the Temple Wall. The notion of the picture plane as a snow-white wall of the temple, filled with philosophical and spiritual meaning, became an inexhaustible source of his personal creative search.
