The Roerich Family Museum-Institute invites you to the exhibition of works by artist Viktor Matorin “Viktor Matorin. Moscow Izmailovo. The Mystery of Time ".

The exhibition presents 12 paintings by Viktor Matorin on the theme of Russian history and architecture.

The Moscow artist V.V.Matorin, a student of I.S.Glazunov, a graduate of the Russian Academy of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture, in his work continues the tradition of Russian art - the constant presence in modern times of a subtle and attentive dialogue with history. In his artistic cycle presented at the exhibition, the author of the paintings reflects the idea of Izmailov, modern and historical. The starting point for the exhibition of works by V. Matorin dedicated to Izmailov is "Portrait of Tsar Alexei Mikhailovich" (2019). This is the famous owner of the estate, who had his hand in the plan for its creation. It was under him that the royal estate was created, the construction of the main monuments began. Matorin's painting is a copy of a canvas by an unknown artist from the collection of the State Historical Museum (1670-1680). In this work, the artist appears to us as a master of historical portraiture. V.V. Matorin works in the Moscow State United Museum-Reserve "Kolomenskoye-Izmailovo", teaches at the Russian Academy of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture of Ilya Glazunov, works with children, is engaged in exhibition activities, attracting contemporary young artists to the museum, participates in international art exhibitions, both in Russia and abroad.
