Museum
The St. Petersburg State Museum-Institute of the Roerich family is located on Vasilievsky Island, in the old mansion of Academician M.P. Botkin, where Nicholas Roerich was a frequent guest. He was a Russian painter, philosopher-mystic, writer, traveler, and archaeologist.
The basis of the memorial exposition of the Museum-Institute is the legacy preserved by the niece of Elena Roerich, Lyudmila Stepanovna Mitusova, and her family. For several years of the museum's existence, its collection has been enlarged by private collections. There are personal belongings, manuscripts, paintings, arts and crafts, archaeological finds, photographs and other cultural treasures reflecting the wide context of life and creativity of the Roerich family among the exhibits.
There are exhibitions of contemporary artists, concerts of classical and oriental music, poetry evenings, and lectures held in the museum.
