On June 27 in the Marble Palace of the State Russian Museum opens the exhibition of contemporary Israeli artist Sasha Okun "Where are you?". The exhibition will feature 33 paintings by the master. The main theme of perch art is human physicality embodied in the materiality of painting. Giving the domestic scenes a parable character, the artist maintains their natural vitality.

Many of Okun's paintings are based on mythological or biblical scenes. In his works, the artist includes references to the history of art, ranging from Greek classics, Byzantium and Renaissance to the existentialist art of the twentieth century. However, he never acts in a straightforward manner, pushing the viewer to independent conclusions, reflections and judgments.

Sasha Okun is a famous Jerusalem artist, teacher of the Israeli Academy of Arts Bezalel, art historian, writer, journalist, author of novels, short stories, local history and cooking books.

Perch was born in 1949 in Leningrad and in childhood was engaged in painting in S. D. Levin’s studio at the Palace of Pioneers. In 1971, he graduated from the Faculty of Industrial Design at Leningrad Art-Industrial University named after. V.I. Mukhina (now the A.A. Shtiglitz State Art and Industry Academy). In the 1970s, Okun was a member of the Alef group, and participated in famous nonconformist exhibitions. In 1979, he repatriated to Israel.

The exhibition is held with the support of the Consulate General of the State of Israel in St. Petersburg.
