Wood is not only a warm, affordable and easy-to-work material that has been used by man since ancient times, but also a universal symbol that personifies the connection between the worlds: the divine and the human.

In different eras and in different cultures, wood has been an integral element of the sacred space. It was present in him both as an element of decorative design and as an archetypal image. At the same time, wood is a very short-lived material that is exposed to external influences, and therefore objects of decorative and applied art and religious worship made of wood and preserved in museum collections are of particular value and require complex restoration.

The exhibition consists of three thematic sections devoted to the traditional beliefs of the peoples of Siberia and the Far East, the Abrahamic religions (Judaism, Christianity, Islam) and the religions of the East.
