The exhibition is timed to coincide with the 30th anniversary of the "Fortress" group - a creative association formed in the midst of the late Leningrad unofficial art. The core of the group was made up of artists who, at the end of the 1980s, were laborers in the Peter and Paul Fortress, in the State Museum of the History of Leningrad (now St. Petersburg).

The first exhibition of the group was opened with the support of the Museum of the History of St. Petersburg in 1991 in the Commandant's House of the Peter and Paul Fortress, at the same time its name was determined. Subsequently, three more exhibitions of the group took place: two in the Peter and Paul Fortress (1992, 2011) and one in the Museum of the Petersburg Avant-garde (2017).

The exhibition managed to collect over 120 works of art created in 1980-2021. Among them are the works of representatives of the first composition of the group - Alexander Dobrovolsky, Alexey Dovshan, Vladimir Zaklinsky, Vasily Kolomiitsev, German Petrovs, Oleg Pogasiy, Sergey Potapenko, Valery Skulkin, Alexey Tarakanov, as well as new members - Anna Gudkova, Stanislav Gomenyuk, Alexander Serov, Andrey Stolypin.

The exhibition showcases works made in a variety of genres and techniques: portraits, still lifes, landscapes, subject and abstract compositions. And, of course, many works are dedicated to St. Petersburg and the Peter and Paul Fortress.
