The exhibition “Chaliapin. Memories of Home” showcases the last residence of the famous opera artist, Chaliapin, located on Graftio Street, 2B in St. Petersburg. Chaliapin lived in this house from 1914 to 1922 before leaving abroad. The house was constructed in 1901, and Chaliapin’s family occupied the second floor. Currently undergoing restoration, the building is expected to be completed in 2026. In the meantime, the House Museum’s exhibition is traveling to other locations. Previously on display at Chaliapin’s Moscow estate, the collection has now returned to St. Petersburg to be featured at the Museum of the History of St. Petersburg. The exhibition will include installations recreating fragments from the House Museum’s interiors, allowing visitors to experience the memories of Chaliapin and his guests. The exhibition features archival documents, personal items, photographs, and paintings from the opera singer’s apartment, including artworks by famous artists such as Konstantin Korovin, Boris Kustodiev, Vasily Shukhaev, Mikhail Nesterov, and gifts from notable figures like Maxim Gorky, Maria Savina, and Jean Cocteau.
