On December 19, an exhibition dedicated to the 140th anniversary of the end of the Russian-Turkish war of 1877-1878 opened in the museum.

For the first time after the restoration, a portrait of the famous White General M.D. Skobelev painted by artist N.Ye. Sverchkova.

The exhibition presents paintings depicting other famous commanders of this period: M.I. Dragomirov; sculptural image of I. V. Gurko; portraits of Emperor Alexander II, his brother, commander-in-chief of the Balkan front, Grand Duke Nikolay Nikolayevich; the largest military reformer of the Alexandrovsky reign, D.A. Milutin; the friend of the sovereign, Adjutant General A. A. Suvorov; Turkish military leader, who received the nickname "Lion of Pleven", Osman Pasha.

Weapons of the period, as well as a unique collection of premium insignia on hats for distinction in the battles are demonstrated. For the first time, the sketches of N. S. Samokish and watercolor “Grenadiers at Plevna” are exhibited.
