Corinna Pretro. "Easy Breath"

To the 85th anniversary of the famous St. Petersburg artist of the second half of the twentieth century Corinna Germanovna Pretro, the Museum of Art of St. Petersburg of the XX-XXI centuries is opening an exhibition entitled "Light Breath".

Pretro's work, influenced by the artistic quests of Leningrad graphics in the 1970s, reflects a shift in the way images are portrayed. Instead of focusing on plot and story, Pretro's compositions depict silent and quiet scenes that capture the deep states of everyday life and the value of life itself. Through seemingly uncomplicated subjects like neglected orchards, apple picking, and Russian interiors, Pretro infuses metaphorical meaning into her art. Her landscape paintings are inspired by the vastness of the Pskov region, where man blends seamlessly with the natural environment, creating a harmonious and beautiful world. In addition to her painting, Pretro is also known for her book illustrations, which are vibrant and romantic interpretations of literary works.
