"St.Petersburg Angel"

A small "St. Petersburg angel", sitting on the bench of the Izmailovsky Garden, is dedicated to the elderly. The author is the famous master puppeteer Roman Shustrov. He dedicated his work to the generation that survived the Civil and Domestic Wars, Stalinist repression, the blockade and difficult post-war years, but retained the love of life, interest in people, intelligence and a kind heart.

The sculpture is installed next to the Youth Theater as a winner of the 2012 Symposium on Urban Sculpture. Since then, St. Petersburg has managed to come up with a little ritual. Coins are placed on the knees of an angel as a reminder of the mercy on which this world stands.
