New stage of the Alexandrinsky Theater - opened in 2013 is a unique multi-functional theater center, which has no analogues either in Russia or in the West. A modern unique architectural complex was built acording to the project of St. Petersburg architect Yury Zemtsov on the site of the former workshops of the theater between Ostrovsky Square and the Fontanka embankment.
Today, the New Stage of Alexandrinsky is not only a modern stage for the country's oldest drama theater, but one of the main cultural and educational multidisciplinary centers of St. Petersburg. Master classes and meetings, concerts, film screenings, exhibitions - 250 events annually - are held. In the summer of 2016, on the New Stage, another venue opened for viewers - the Roof, where meetings, poetry readings, concerts, film screenings take place.
