Museum
Museum-apartment of A.I. Kuindzhi recreates the atmosphere that surrounded the legendary master of the landscape.
Archip Ivanovich Kuindzhi spent the last 13 years of his life in this house. In the artist's workshop an exposition devoted to his pedagogical activities at the Academy of Arts is presented. He was a professor of landscape painting and the head of the workshop from 1894 to 1897.
The apartment in Birzhevy Lane attracted Kuindzhi's attention with a huge attic-workshop, from which a magnificent view of the city, the Arrow of the Vasilyevsky Island and the Petrograd side could be seen. The workshop was very convenient for work.
After the death of the master, his disciple N.N. Roerich expressed the idea of creating a museum in the historical workshop. This was accomplished in 1991 to the 150th anniversary of the artist's birth.
