The building was constructed in 1914-1916 in the Italian Palaccio style. First cinema was opened here in 1917 and was the best in Petrograd. After the war in 1948 a kids’ movie theatre “Rodina” was opened. Later after the reconstruction in 1960 Union of Cinematographers occupied the building and opened a hall of “Dom Kino”. Now this place is adored by trendy locals and foreigners. Here you can watch independent movies, art-house films in the original and festival films. Also retrospective and art evenings are held here. Exhibitions are held in the lobby. Last floor hosts a restaurant with panoramic view over the city center.
