The cost of admission is 100 rubles. For schoolchildren and students, senior citizens and labor veterans - 50 rubles. Children under 6 years old, members of the Union of Artists of the Russian Federation, students of art schools, museum workers, people with disabilities, and blockades are free of charge. On exhibition opening days admission is free.

A collection of works by the Leningrad and Moscow post-guard of the 20-90s of the XX century, preserving the traditions of pictorial-plastic realism. Part of the permanent exhibition is dedicated to the artists of the Arefevsky circle.
It was founded in 1991 by the artist Alexander Nekrasov. The museum building in 1909 is made in the Art Nouveau style by the architect Gustav von Goli.
The museum regularly holds exhibitions of contemporary artists.
