The library opened in 1921 at the address 1 st. Village Poor Puny (now Kuibyshev St.), 21. The number of readers in the library increased every year and it became impossible to stay in its cramped basement. In 1957, the library was able to move to the first floor of a new house, located at the intersection of Voskov and Bolshaya Pushkarskaya streets. The new room was specially planned for the library in the name of V.I. Lenin.

In August 2019, the library opened after reconstruction. There appeared recreation areas, playrooms for children, an exhibition space, a media library and coworking.

Today, the Lenin Library is a modern comfortable space for reading, working and leisure in the very heart of the Petrograd side. The library has more than 30 thousand publications.

Readers have access to a unique local history resource - an interactive map of the Petrograd side, an automated book distribution station, an exhibition of augmented reality.
