The Yusupov Palace on the Moika River is a famous architectural ensemble of the 18th-19th centuries. For more than two hundred years of its existence – from the Catherine the Great era to the revolution of 1917 – it has witnessed significant events in the history of the Russian Empire. But it is not only interesting. In these magnificent interiors, where once unfolded pictures of the social life of the St. Petersburg aristocracy, today it is as if time has stopped.

You will see:

• the grand halls, where the high society receptions and masquerade balls took place;
• Prince Yusupov's half and Princess Zinaida Nikolayevna's private quarters;
• the Moorish Drawing Room, the Henry II Room, the Leather and Turkish Rooms;
• the palace theater, where Chopin and Liszt once performed their music, Chaliapin and Pauline Viardot sang;
• the servants' quarters and other non-parade rooms of the palace, where the life of the palace was boiling, unnoticed by the gentlemen;
• and, of course, the rooms of the young Prince Felix Yusupov, where the “crime of the century” was committed.

During the walk around the palace the guide will share with you little-known facts from the history of the Yusupov family and their fabulous wealth, reveal the reasons and details of the murder of Grigory Rasputin, tell you about the role played by the princely family in the revolutionary events of 1917 and about the fate of the Yusupovs in exile.
