Gérard Uféras. “One Day at the Museum”

The exhibition “One Day at the Museum” was initially presented at the XI Moscow International Biennale “Fashion and Style in Photography — 2019” at the Multimedia Art Museum, Moscow. 

Gérard Uféras, an experienced photojournalist and fashion photographer with a love for music, opera, and ballet, has been involved in the project. He started working on a series of books about the world’s largest opera houses in the late 90s and contributed to a book about the reconstruction of the Bolshoi Theater. Through his project, Uféras explores the concept of museums as an important cultural phenomenon in modern society. His work includes photographic images from renowned photographers of the 20th century, as well as works by contemporary photographers capturing Russian and international museums in the 21st century.

This focus on museums is not coincidental, as they have experienced significant changes in recent years, attracting younger audiences and featuring various events like concerts, performances, movie screenings, and poetry evenings. Gérard Uféras’s project acts as both an artistic representation and a sociological observation, allowing viewers to reflect on their own relationship with art and see themselves from a different perspective.
