The State Museum and Exhibition Center ROSPHOTO and the Consulate General of Japan in St. Petersburg under the program of the Year of Japan in Russia present the exhibition “Japanese-Russian Relations. History in photos". The exhibition will feature about 80 unique photographs and documents, divided according to the chronological principle into three chapters.

Chapter 1 “Acquaintance” will open to the visitors of the exhibition materials on the birth of Japanese-Russian relations: the arrival of the Russian official mission to Japan, the establishment of diplomatic relations, contacts between members of the imperial families of the two countries.

Chapter 2 "Conflict, cooperation, war" is devoted to the Russo-Japanese War, the subsequent cooperation and the Second World War.

Chapter 3 "Development of relations in the postwar period" will present the transition to a new round of relations between Japan and the USSR in the postwar period, the chronology of development and the formation of exchanges at the level of citizens in various fields (from economics and science to sports), as well as aspects of the development of bilateral political relations and economic cooperation today.

The exhibition is open to visitors from January 30 to March 3, 2019.
