The "No-Beginning Landscape" exhibition will be held from October 29 to December 9 at Gallery-AS (3rd floor of the "More Place" space). It will feature works by Alexey Smolovik, Vyacheslav Mikhailov, Vladimir Zagorov, Larisa Astrain and Mikhail Tserush in the landscape genre.

The landscape begins in the realm of nature and continues in the realm of culture. Thus, he unites the heterogeneous, allowing natural energies to permeate the world of culture, and cultural intuitions to plunge into the depths of nature. In the artist's perception, the landscape immediately becomes a fact of culture, is included in the network of its complex internal connections and is transformed with the help of lines and colors into a new statement - then, in order to further process the consciousness and, in fact, the vision of the viewers themselves.

Participants of the exhibition, working with the essence of this “beginningless landscape”, see it as “a flowing mass of intertwined particles, constantly changing its volume, color, height, weight and shape,” in the right words of Mikhail Matyushin. But the “flow” is not a blind, unconscious nature, but some cultural archetypes associated with nature only indirectly. Moreover, the landscape was never limited to the types of nature, but always carried traces of human activity - especially in such a metaphysical, mysterious city like St. Petersburg.
