Jubilee project for the 70th anniversary of the artist's birth!

A Leningrad resident of St. Petersburg, an excellent graduate of the famous Mukha (Stieglitz Academy), a graduate student of Slava Zaitsev, an expositioner of the art fund of the Russian Federation engaged in a creative search in the field of abstract graphics at the time of the collapse of the USSR.

An innate taste, good teachers and a consistent obsession with the creative process have paid off. Semyon Yakovlevich is a multiple exhibitor of the State Russian Museum, the museums of the Academy of Arts, the Hermitage-Vyborg Exhibition Center, the Prince Bernard Amsterdam Fund, the 6th Moscow, 56th Venice and 9th Berlin Biennale of Contemporary Art, prestigious international art fairs: Miami Art Basel, Art Helsinki and Art Hong Kong, Art Prize Nominee. Daniil Kharms and Sergey Kuryokhin.

The artist lives and works actively in St. Petersburg. Within the framework of the anniversary exhibition "RETROSPECTIVE" Gulyako generously shares his achievements, created throughout his career.

The exposition presents works of different years: from sketches of costumes in the spirit of avant-garde fashion, early postgraduate gouaches, where color spots play a dominant role; abstract works created under the influence of A. Vivaldi's musical works - the "Wine and Love" series, D. Shostakovich - the "Conquerors" series, musical compositions by the British rock group "Deep purple" - 4 purple-burgundy compositions, choreographic miniatures by A. Schnittke in series of works "Color of the Wind" to the large-scale installation "Yellow".

It would be impossible to imagine a retrospective without Gulyako's main graphic series. "12 Dreams of Kharms" - dedication to Daniil Kharms, series "East" - inspired memories of travels in Southeast Asia. The Venice Biennials, in turn, pushed the artist to create the series Thinking of Sai Twombly. The large-scale installation "Yellow River" was created directly for display at the international fair Miami Art Basel in 2018. So varied in the fine arts of Semyon Gulyako reflected his multifaceted interests and bright, full of events, acquaintances, various creative searches, the life of an abstract artist.
