The Borey Gallery, with the participation of the first national museum of rock music, presents the first personal photo exhibition of Alexander Tolkachev.

Alexander Tolkachev has long been over sixty. Age is not at all a boy. In his youth, he was a dazzling slender hippie. Now looks like the old samurai from the Kurasawa films. We are not interested in where he studied and worked, how many wives and children he had. Here something else matters - Alexander witnessed the striking events of the 80s of the last century, when Russian rock music became the banner of democratic changes, when it was mistakenly thought that it was she who was carrying out these changes, when it was imagined - just a little bit, quite a bit, and abundant prosperity will come in the country. But that country fell apart. And suddenly it turned out - there is no heaven on earth, but there are varieties of hell ...

Alexander Tolkachev was not an idle witness to all kinds of rock events, but a witness with a camera. He was also in the backstage. Then he printed the photos and gave them away. Sometimes they appear on the Internet without authorship. This exhibition is the first personal one. We kind of introduce Alexander into the circle of the rock Areopagus, returning his stories. In addition to Usov, Baranovsky, Konradt, Potapov and a number of other photographers, Tolkachev will now have to be named. His photographs are not staged, often taken in poor lighting. But they recorded the time of our slipped youth.

Almost no one has seen photographs of Alexander Tolkachev. Probably half of the heroes of the photographs already live in other worlds. But here THEY ARE STILL ALIVE!

Alexander Tolkachev is practically unknown to those who are interested in Russian rock music. But in the 80s of the last century, he actively filmed at concerts and behind the scenes. Mike, BG, Tsoi, Bashlachev, Zaderiy, "Kino", "Aquarium", "Games", "Sounds of Mu", "Alice", their friends - this is the sphere of interests of the photographer. Almost all photographs of those years are well known and have been repeatedly replicated and exhibited. This exhibition demonstrates something that almost no one has seen yet.
