The Descendants’ Look

The collective exhibition of works by graduates from the St. Petersburg Arts Academy is an attempt to make sense of the 20^th century’s history that World War II divided into two separate eras.

“The modern world was no doubt born out of the ashes of what had been destroyed in the middle of the last century. And these works by our young artists are not a simple illustration of some historic facts, but rather an attempt to get into causes and effects of events that have split history into ‘before’ and ‘after’,” the exhibition’s curator Aleksandra Schegoleva says.
