"Russianness" in the Renaissance: St. Petersburg artist is preparing an exhibition of works about beauty, combining the native, from Russian folklore, and the sublime - monumental beauty, sung by the masters of the Renaissance.

Fenya Romashovskaya has been working on the series for the last two years, two completely dissimilar travels played an important role in her becoming a freelance artist and made her look at "Russianness" a little differently, through the prism of the Renaissance. “In Tuscany, a waterfall of majestic, high beauty fell upon me, and while traveling across Russia, to places dear to my heart associated with my parents, I feel the truth and strong energy.”

Trying to imagine what the girls and women of traditional, bygone culture looked like, the artist admired her friends in sundresses, kokoshniks, shirts, tried on images for herself. The masterpieces of the Italian Renaissance masters breathed into them a different sense of beauty - monumental, for which every movement, the most everyday and ordinary, is valuable, majestic, where the secondary hero is beautiful and dressed up, where everything shines and breathes with purity. “Thanks to such a material, material reincarnation, I seemed to see a certain face, a face that shines from the inside with such an imperceptible 'Russianness' for me."

Fenya Romashovskaya is the creative pseudonym of Anastasia Zhigalina. The young artist is a graduate of the Academy of Arts. IE Repin this year, she also graduated from the Faculty of Graphic Design. At her exhibition in Artmuz, she will present works in the genres of painting, graphics, and assemblage.
