What can you expect?

The journey begins on Vasilievsky Island in the port of Sevkabel, where an ice rink will be arranged from December 21 to March 1. You don’t need to take skates with you - there you can rent them. If you are not very confident in ice skating, instructors and sleigh seals will help you.

40 minutes by tram - and you are in the Peter and Paul Fortress, where the Ice Sculpture Festival opens on December 21, which will last until February 9. The theme of this year's festival is Living Planet. Visitors will be able to see the ice flora and fauna of the Earth: giraffes, fairy tales, snow leopard and a giant tarantula, and in the center there will be an "underwater kingdom" with its mistress, the Little Mermaid.

If you are free all day and the weather allows, you can go to the Central Park for New Year's Art Market. On Yelagin Island, stalls with original Christmas tree decorations, designer souvenirs, handmade products, honey and sweets will open. The bazaar will be open until the end of January, except for three days off (from December 30 to January 1 and January 9). Entrance is paid, with tickets to the park.

Meanwhile, in the city center, on Palace Square, from December 20, the main New Year tree of St. Petersburg will shine. After admiring it and the magnificent architectural ensemble, you can start shopping.

New Year's bazaars and fairs have long been held in the department stores DLT, "Big Gostiny Dvor" and "Passage", and we recommend a break between purchases in the legendary St. Petersburg pyshechnaya on Bolshaya Konyushennaya. Hot donuts with powdered sugar will return you to childhood and add a New Year's mood.

And the main New Year's fair this year will unfold on Manezhnaya Square. Adults will be pleased with the choice of products and gifts, refreshments and a rich concert program, while children will be able to visit the residence of Santa Claus and the Craft House, watch theatrical performances, participate in competitions and draws.

Your further journey lies on Sadovaya Street, where in the back streets of Apraksin's yard a museum called “Old New Year” hides. Once there was located "Izokult" - the Leningrad artel for the production of Christmas toys, and now - a permanent exhibition. To visit the museum, sign up in advance by phone or in the group of the Vkontakte museum (at the same time they will explain how to find it).

The final point of the route is the island of New Holland. In the courtyard of the Bottle building, visit the traditional New Year's Bazaar, and then rent your skates - and go to the rink! Near the rink there is a warm recreation area where you can warm up and have a bite to eat without taking off your skates.
