Yuri Vasnetsov. "Visiting a fairy tale"

The exhibition of works by the legendary artist-storyteller Yuri Vasnetsov will open on November 3 in the Republic of Cats at Yakubovich, 10. In non-working week, the exhibition vernissage will be held online, however, you can see fairy-tale animals familiar from childhood: the Republic of Cats and Cats works in the format of a museum and a shelter, accepting guests according to the general rules of a non-working week: with quar codes or a medical outlet.

The cats in Yuri Vasnetsov's paintings are both real and incredible at the same time. Each cat, while remaining itself, quite similar and natural, with its own tail, paws, mustache and habits, turns out to be a little outlandish. And he behaves especially and amusingly - a little in his own way, and a little human. In the feline reality transformed by the artist, there is admiration, a joke, and mischief. How different they are - taken from life and colored by the artist's love fantasy. Each has its own character, just like our cats-residents of the Republic.

A snow-white fashionista ("Cat's House"), a mustachioed gourmand (lithograph "Cat"), a formidable tiger ("Cat, Rooster and Fox"), a tailed black dandy on a bright red background ("Kitten Kotok"), and many, many others , the same charismatic and the same loved ones. The exhibition will remind adults of childhood. Many moms, dads, grandmothers and grandfathers grew up on these magical pictures. Vasnetsov's cats will unite generations in the family with a common warm feeling of love for cats and for art.

“My grandfather Yura Vasnetsov was a man of nature and a man of art. Since childhood, he loved to draw animals and birds. I even painted my room with four seasons - there were hares, and deer, and magpies. And not only did he draw animals, but he watched intently and noticed the subtleties. Therefore, each character in a child's picture has its own character, is not like the others and carries a deep meaning. Cats are the keepers of the hearth, cats are the knights-protectors of the weak, cats are diligent workers and caring nannies, ”says the curator of the exhibition, Maria Zakharenko.

The exhibition is a joint project of the Republic of Cats and the artist Vasnetsov's family. Museum guests will be able to buy reproductions of paintings, postcards and posters with cats, as well as a wall calendar with the works of Yuri Vasnetsov - completely dedicated to cats and cats in the souvenir shop. Every month in 2022, you can admire a new fluffy handsome man. The artist's granddaughters also create textiles decorated with illustrations of the famous grandfather.
