The Museum of Art of St. Petersburg of the XX-XXI centuries presents an exhibition of Laura Malysheva (born 1947), a famous Petersburg painter and enamel artist. After a twenty-year break, her art again returns to the artistic space of our city.

The exhibition "Gardens and Muses" brought together the master's paintings for thirty years - from the late 1980s to the present day. The theme of these works was the nature of the Black Sea region, the homeland of Malysheva, and the people living there. In her works, the artist generously shares the beauty of this region - blooming gardens, bathed in the sun, the natural wealth of the southern land appear before the viewer. The heroes of her works are people from everyday life - these are women harvesting ("Noon", 1993; "Spring Garden", 2004), feeding pets ("Courtyard in October", 2003), preparing a dinner table ("Midday in the garden ", 2000) or indulging in afternoon rest (" By the lake ", 1998;" At the dacha ", 2002). Typical southerners, they are slow and graceful in their movements. The artist endows this measured life with a deep philosophical meaning: her heroines turn into ancient goddesses dissolving in their surrounding nature ("August", 1999), then at night - into pagan priestesses ("Night Bathing", 1997; "Sea Wind", 1989 ; "Meeting", 1993).

A sensitive plein air artist, the artist admires the beauty of life and conveys this through the richness of color: the decorative color space of her canvases is permeated with a sense of harmony and unity with nature.

The exposition includes more than 40 works that provide viewers with a unique opportunity to get acquainted with the bright pictorial temperament of Laura Malysheva.
