The exhibition features over 30 watercolors and drawings by Alexander Vasiliev, Yuri Tulin, Ia Mikhraniants, Nina Veselova, and Leonid Khizhinsky, who had captured the devastated Tsarskoe Selo palaces and parks when the town Pushkin was liberated in 1944 after Nazi occupation.
It supplemented with technical drawings, documents, manuscripts, photographs, and original interior decoration fragments.
Although the images on display mostly symbolize the sufferings the town had to undergo in the war, the artists’ poetic vision reflects hopes that the lost beauty would be restored to life.
Admission is free for holders of tickets to Catherine’s (Yekaterininsky) Park.
