The Museum of Art of St. Petersburg of the XX-XXI centuries opens a new exhibition "Cause and Effect", dedicated to the work of Alexander Lotsman, a non-conformist artist, one of the active workers of the art center "Pushkinskaya-10".

In the artistic world of the Pilot, everything exists according to the laws of cause-and-effect relationships. A hectic rush can lead to burns (Cause and Effect, 1999); desire for the impossible or forbidden - for immediate payback ("One Flew Over the Stool", 2012).

The vector of Pilot's pictorial art was determined by many factors, among which, on the one hand, childhood spent in the vast Siberian expanses, and on the other, maturity in conditions of various turbulence and social upheavals that took place in Leningrad at the turn of the 1980s-1990s. From early genre-narrative canvases, filled with lyrical mood, the author goes on to brighter, more intense compositions.

Pilot's paintings reveal the author's amazing ability to give the space a movement that binds everything depicted into a single living organism - the chair overturns, water pours, radially hits the light from the lamp. The heroes of his paintings are drawn into this movement - naive and touching in their manifestations, feeling natural and comfortable in the changeable world created by the artist. At the same time, idyllic existence in the bosom of nature is not alien to them. The artist sincerely believes in the possibility of silence and blessed peace of mind (Pink Lyalya, 1999).

The exhibition will feature more than 20 subject works of the most fruitful period of the artist's work.
