50 Years with Nekrasov. Marking Chukovsky’s 140-Year Jubilee

On March 31, Russia celebrated the 140-year jubilee of the prominent writer, translator, literary and textual critic, and journalist Korney Chukovsky (1882-1969).

Although most readers primarily know Chukovsky as a children’s poet, experts highly regard him as an established authority in Nikolay Nekrasov’s works.

The author of the fundamental book, Nekrasov’s Mastery, Chukosky dedicated over 50 years of his life to Nekrasov studies. It was his deep archival research that discovered the poet’s original uncensored texts including over 70 previously unpublished poems.

Beginning 1920, Chukovsky had been the editor of every set of Nekrasov’s works published in Russia during his lifetime.
