The exhibition will feature works by over 100 Russian artists (including Vladimir Borovikovsky and Vasily Tropinin, Sylvester Shchedrin and Orest Kiprensky, Fyodor Tolstoy and Karl Bryullov, Ivan Shishkin and Arkhip Kuindzhi, Mikhail Nesterov and Viktor Borisov-Musatov) from the collections of 39 leading museums Russia and abroad.

“There will be no battles, heartbreaking dramas, ardent passions, heightened emotions, frightening mysticism at the exposition in the Manege. The “Peace and Joy” exhibition is an idyllic story about art that has not entered the era of total transformation ”- Semyon Mikhailovsky, curator.

The soundtrack of the project was created by composer and pianist Anton Batagov. An album with musical works that will sound at the exhibition will subsequently be released by the Fancymusic record label.

The architectural design of the exposition was developed in collaboration with Agnia Sterligova (Planet 9) and includes several thematic sections. The works of Russian artists of the 19th century reflect images that return our memory to the traditions of the past, without focusing on its social and political problems.

As part of the exhibition project, the Manezh team will also present an exciting educational program (the events will be held online). It will acquaint the viewer with the history and philosophy of the 19th century. Studying the masterpieces of fine art, literature and music, the participants of the program will discover that unique aesthetics, which is still interesting and attractive to our contemporaries.
