Anikushin / Chekhov immersion exhibition opens at Anikushin's Workshop. Visitors to the branch of the Museum of Urban Sculpture will take a look behind the scenes of the creative process of the monumental sculptor and get acquainted with the history of the creation of the monument to Chekhov for Moscow.

The sculptor Mikhail Anikushin has been working on the monument to Chekhov for 37 years. Over the years, he managed to install dozens of monuments, release several generations of sculptors from the Academy of Arts, receive various state awards - and the image of Anton Pavlovich was never completed.

Visitors will have to reflect on the reasons for this delay and look at this story through the eyes of a museum employee, Leningrad journalists, today's experts and the sculptor himself.

The curators of the exhibition invite you to look into the consciousness (and sometimes into the subconsciousness) of the sculptor, try to guess the artist's thoughts and look at the writer through his eyes - with the help of fragments of letters, interviews, notes, drawings and numerous sculptures.

The exhibition presents sketches for the monument to Chekhov of different years, sketches and archival photographs from the collections of the museum and the heiress of the sculptor Nina Mikhailovna Anikushina. Some of the exhibits will be presented for the first time.

In the play zones, you can figure out what detail of the monument can tell about the character of its hero, find out how the clay model of Chekhov once lost its head, and recognize the sounds of the sculptural workshop. Excursions, master classes, and creative meetings will be held for visitors.
