On November 13, the exhibition Utopia Saved by Lee Bul will open at the Manezh Central Exhibition Hall. The works of the South Korean artist have received wide international recognition, and solo exhibitions have been held in major museums and centers of contemporary art in New York, Philadelphia, Sydney, Toronto, Marseille, Bern, Tokyo, Seoul, London and Berlin. Lee Bul has twice participated in the Venice Art Biennale (1999, 2019).

“Utopia Saved” is the first personal exhibition of Lee Bul in Russia, which will feature the artist's works over the past 15 years. They will be shown together with the works of Russian artists who became the source of her inspiration - Kazimir Malevich, Alexander Rodchenko, Alexandra Exter, and others.

Work on the creation of the exhibition in the St. Petersburg Manege took about two years. All this time, Li Bul took an active part in the preparation of all aspects of the project: from the development of the general idea and selection of works, to the preparation of the catalog and the creation of the architectural solution of the exhibition.

Within the framework of the exhibition, the Manezh Central Exhibition Hall will also present an extensive additional program designed to broaden the coverage of the themes of modernist and contemporary culture of South Korea, its ties with the Russian avant-garde and culture.
