The exhibition is timed to celebrate the 200-years jubilee of Apollon Grigoriev, poet, literary and stage critic, translator, essayist, and journalist who used to work with the magazines published by the Dostoevsky brothers, Vremya and Epokha.
Although best remembered today for his lyrics to the still popular romances, Hungarian Dance in Gypsy Style and Seven Strings, he, among other achievements, developed his own original concept of literary and theatrical criticism.
He called himself a “last romantic,” while Fyodor Dostoevsky referred to him as a “Hamlet of Russia.”
The exhibition is accompanied by an audioplay based on Grigoriev’s biography.
