The exposition is dedicated to the tragic events in the Japanese cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, the fate of their residents who became victims of the atomic bombings, and the preservation of the memory of one of the largest disasters of the 20th century.

75 years ago, in August 1945, the only combat use of atomic weapons in the history of mankind took place. Nuclear strikes almost completely destroyed the Japanese cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. As a result of both bombings, more than 300 thousand people were killed and about 200 thousand were exposed to radiation. The day of August 6 has become a memorable mourning date, which is celebrated not only in Japan, but throughout the world.

The exhibition will feature a collection of photographs by Japanese photographer Eimatsu Hosita, who died in the bombing of Hiroshima.

The exhibition was organized with the assistance of the Committee for External Relations of St. Petersburg, the Consulate General of Japan in St. Petersburg, the Regional Public Organization "Information and Analytical Center" We Remember All by Name.
