Continuing the series of outdoor exhibitions under the general title "New Ruins", Manezh and curator Maxim Ima present the third joint outdoor exhibition. The goal of the project is to study non-standard techniques in contemporary art, search for new visual forms and reduce discourse to open experiment.

How often do we think about the existence of matter that surrounds us everywhere: from the facades of buildings to the smartphone screen in our pocket? As part of the new exhibition, contemporary artists are turning to a material that is associated with almost everything we are used to interacting with every day in our life - glass.

Participants of previous exhibitions in the New Ruins series have already worked with huge concrete columns and granite stones, creating graffiti comics on them and carving images with a sledgehammer and scarpels, raising the themes of eternity, monumentality and the zeitgeist. The Glass exhibition, as a kind of antipode, will continue this dialogue, but in the language of transparency and fragility. The aesthetic appeal of street art fades into the background, giving way to an idea and an attempt to redefine the significance of a certain material.

The curator of the exhibition, Maxim Ima, often refers to the methods of graffiti art and invites invited artists to try to integrate them into their art. This process creates unexpected opportunities for creativity that challenges both the viewer and the author.

Each author had at his disposal glass and a variety of materials at hand. The scratching technique presupposes the presence of a special look and the artist's skills to embody his ideas in a monochrome composition with a complete lack of color schemes. This artistic method is an excellent test for ingenuity and professionalism.

Artists taking part in the project: Vladimir Abikh, Andrey Berger, Marina Koldobskaya, Nadezhda Kosinskaya, Pokras Lampas, Vitaly Pushnitsky, Alexander Shishkin-Hokusai, Yuri Shtapakov, A.D.E.D, Nikita Dusto, GIWE, Sergey Xeat8, Vandal Karlos, 0331c.

The exposition “New Ruins. Glass ”is located on the square near the western facade of the Manege. The exhibition is organized within the framework of the Museum Line program, conceived by the team of the Central Exhibition Hall with the aim of creating open cultural spaces, searching for new plastic forms and developing a creative urban environment. As an up-to-date platform for the presentation of contemporary artistic ideas, the Museum Line brings together a series of bright, relevant, alternating street installations.

Head of the "Museum Line" program - Anna Yalova, Deputy Director of the Central Exhibition Hall "Manezh" for development.

The exposition will continue to work from June 22 to July 31, 2021.
