The exhibition will feature works of traditional Tibetan painting from the collection of the State Hermitage from the collection of Yu. N. Roerich.

Yuri Roerich (1902-1960), the son of the famous artist Nikolai Roerich, was an outstanding Orientalist. Possessing a number of oriental languages, he was an expert on various aspects of the life of the people of the countries he studied. In 1925, his book Tibetan Painting was published in Paris, one of the first scientific works in the world devoted to the religious art of Tibet. The collection of Tangka, which N. N. Roerich continued to collect throughout his life, contained works of various pictorial schools, representing the Buddhist pantheon in all its diversity. Part of this collection is kept in the State Hermitage and represents an extremely interesting and significant part of his collection of Tibetan painting.
