It is generally accepted that comics are French, American or Japanese art. But this is not so. The Nordic countries also have a long tradition of storytelling in pictures. In Russia, many are familiar with comics about the Moomins, written by Tuve Jansson and her brother Lars. The project "Contemporary Comics of the Nordic Countries" includes an exhibition of 5 artists who work with the comics books or use its elements in their work. For the last 10 years in these countries, it is women who play a key role in the development of the culture of painted stories. Within the framework of the project, creative meetings with artists and master classes will be held.

Participants of the exhibition: Anja Dale Everby (Norway), Anna Sailamaa (Finland), Carolina Stjernfelt (Denmark), Raun Fliegenring (Iceland), Berit Wiklynd (Sweden).

The project is part of the Nordic Week festival with the support of the Consulate General of Sweden, Norway and Finland, the Embassies of Iceland and Denmark, the Institute of Finland and the Danish Cultural Institute, and the Committee for External Relations of St. Petersburg.
