The main event of the XI International Festival of Arts “Diaghilev. P.S. " will be a large-scale international exhibition of portraits “In Diaghilev's Circle. Crossing of destinies ", which will be exhibited from November 13, 2020 to February 12, 2021. in the Sheremetev Palace.

The exhibition is dedicated to the creative path of Sergei Pavlovich Diaghilev, an outstanding figure in Russian culture, a passionate propagandist of Russian art in the West, a reformer and discoverer of new forms and new names, and his contribution to the development of world ballet.

An exhibition about Diaghilev's personality of this scale and artistic level will be presented to the Russian audience for the first time. This ambitious project is an unprecedented dialogue between the artistic cultures of Russia and Europe. It is about the people who were involved by the outstanding Russian impresario Diaghilev in the cycle of his stormy activity. About people whom he attracted, repelled, with whom he was friends, with whom he studied, whom he valued, whose talent he discovered, about people who helped him and whom he helped. For the first time, portraits of prominent artists of the 20th century in Russia and Europe will be brought together, united by the figure of Sergei Pavlovich Diaghilev.

The content of the exhibition is determined by twelve subjects (or 12 "circles"), going in the chronological order of Diaghilev's life. Behind each is a certain creative period of the impresario's life. The content of these periods is determined primarily by the circle of persons whom Diaghilev attracted and united with his ideas.

The artistic image of the exhibition consists of two parts:

I. Main portrait row. Here are the picturesque, graphic and photographic portraits of Diaghilev's associates.

II. Accompanying series, "interlinear", dedicated to the most important creative events, participants and allies in which were the people shown in this kind of portrait gallery.
