Gipsy Rufina is a solo project by Emiliano Liberally, an independent Italian folk singer and composer.
The history of the project name is very simple. Santa Rufina is the birthplace of Emiliano, a small town between mountains and countryside, north of Rome. Gypsy is a long-time nickname of a musician, received because of his love for changing places.
Gypsy has been fond of art since the 90's, supporting Roman punk rock and hardcore playing in bands like Redemption or The Bloodmakers. In 2002, having bought a worn out acoustic guitar for $ 10 in a Chicago commission, Gypsy returned to the songs of his childhood. Two years later, he recorded his first demo album, which consisted of four acoustic ballads, with the help of a cassette tape recorder, and began performing in clubs in Italy (and throughout Europe), making live performances his credo.
