Erarta Museum opens an exhibition of digital artist Alexei Andreev, pushing past and future, terrestrial and extraterrestrial in his works. Visitors will see digital painting in real time and augmented reality.

“Movement of the Worlds” - the second exhibition of Alexei Andreev in the Erart Museum. Unlike the apocalyptic project of 2015, which is closely associated with black science fiction, the new exhibition features vibrant works that show life-filled skies, one of the well-recognized images of the Andreev universe.

The artist’s creativity is rooted in the applied sphere of design and illustration, and more precisely in concept art. It is akin to the art of the future, because concept art is engaged in modeling what does not exist, for example, the art world of a series or a game. The element of Andreev is fantastic. By the early 2000s, it ceased to be considered a marginal genre and took a strong place in the cultural space. A society too obsessed with everything relevant and modern cannot afford to stop and comprehend what is happening: the future is coming, but somewhere has already come. By humanizing technology, science fiction helps a person get accustomed to the truly inhuman pace of progress. The present simply does not have time to become obsolete. This is probably why the author’s works so clearly show retro aesthetics and naturalism: they embody the most cherished dreams of man about flying. At the same time, some rusty pepelats and Lviv buses are hovering in the air - as in the best episodes of the Star Wars saga, where good characters pilot all kinds of junk in the company of dusty robots.

A metaphor that defines fiction as an unconscious culture, characterizes the somewhat sentimental world of Andreev. In the landscapes depicted by the artist, the contemporary technocrat should be very comfortable: they allow you to revive long forgotten sensations in your memory - remember what it feels like to go in the heat in a bus without air conditioning or to dive from a rusty beam sticking out of the water. In the author’s dynamic works, the past and the future collide, the earthly and the extraterrestrial: at the moment of the collision, the movement of worlds starts - already in the viewer's imagination.
