The exhibition, dedicated to the 145th anniversary of the birth of A.I. Vakhrameev and the 180th anniversary of the IOPH Drawing School, presents works of several art cycles and genre trends, reflecting various facets of the artist’s talent, from the funds of the Central State Archive of Literature and Art of St. Petersburg (TsGALI SPb), as well as exhibits from the Museum-Institute of the Roerich family.

Alexander Ivanovich Vakhrameev is a St. Petersburg artist who worked in a wide variety of genres - from portrait and landscape to book illustration and religious painting. In 1912, N.K. Roerich, being the director of the Drawing School of the Imperial Society for the Promotion of Arts, invited a recognized artist to the position of a teacher. Among his colleagues were I. Ya. Bilibin, A.V. Shchusev, I.N. Kramskoy. In the post-revolutionary years, the artist was elected professor at the Higher Art and Technical Institute (VKHUTEIN). The creative, social and teaching activities of A. I. Vakhrameev were appreciated by contemporaries - his works were regularly exhibited and received numerous praise, such famous Soviet artists as G. N. Traugot, Yu. A. Vasnetsov and E were trained in his workshop I. Charushin.
