Water Trips & Tours
ASTRA MARINE offers you an opportunity to take a trip to Kronstadt aboard the Meteor hydrofoil with a guided tour around the town.
The trip provides you with an opportunity to see the views of the Neva bridges and embankments, and to enjoy beautiful seascapes of the Gulf of Finland, featuring warships and historic maritime fortifications. In Kronstadt, you will be free to choose between walking on your own and joining a guided sightseeing tour that includes a visit to St. Nicholas Naval Cathedral.
Route and content of the tour
Located on Kotlin Island west of St. Petersburg, Kronstadt was founded by Peter the Great as a naval fortress that would guard the approaches to St. Petersburg.
The Meteor boat departs from the Kunstkammer quay (3 Universitetskaya Embankment) at 11:45, and arrives at Kronstadt at 13:05.
On its way, the boat first goes past the Vasilievsky Island Spit, and then floats down Malaya Neva, passing under the historic Birzhevoy and Tuchkov bridges and the contemporary Betancourt and ZSD bridges, before entering the Gulf of Finland.
Meteor has a bar and WCs on board, and is equipped with comfortable seats, audio and video systems.
In Kronstadt, you can choose between independent sightseeing and a guided tour (Russian language only) that lasts around an hour. After the tour, you can walk around the town on your own until 16:00 when Meteor will take you back to St. Petersburg.
Meteor booking is available both online at the ASTRA MARINE website (Russian only) and at the quays. The cost depends on the seat class:
*Standard: seats at the back of the deck or in the mid-section of the central salon;
*Comfort: window seats in the central salon;
*Business Class: seats on the fore deck with the panoramic view windows (the fare including tea, coffee or water, as well as nuts or chocolates).
